It's official—Nutiva is a Whole30 Approved partner!

So, what is Whole30?


If you’re not already familiar with Whole30, it’s a program that's been growing since 2009 when co-founder Melissa Hartwig Urban began blogging about a “30-day dietary experiment that transformed her health, habits, and emotional relationship with food.” Since then, the Whole30 program has supported millions of people in eliminating cravings, improving energy and sleep, and losing weight healthfully and sustainably.

The core concept behind the Whole30 program is to eliminate foods that are commonly problematic with respect to cravings, metabolism, digestion, and the immune system. Descriptions of this program clearly emphasize that it is not a diet, detox, or weight loss program. Instead, it’s an opportunity to “reset” your health and clean your slate for greater awareness of your dietary sensitivities. After the month of elimination, you can start to slowly and carefully reintroduce foods while tracking how you feel so that you can continue to avoid foods which negatively impact your health.

In a survey of 7,700 Whole30 alumni conducted in 2016, 88% reported that the Whole30 “really did change their life.” Some of the positive effects reported by Whole30 participants included “improvements in allergies, anxiety, chronic pain, digestive issues, [and] skin conditions.” Check out their library of testimonials and personal success stories here.

Curious about the specifics of how it works? Here are the official rules!

Do not consume the following for 30 days:

  • Added sugar, whether real or artificial
  • Alcohol
  • Grains
  • Legumes
  • Dairy
  • Carrageenan, MSG, or sulfites
  • Baked goods, junk foods, or even treats with “approved” ingredients.


And finally, do not step on the scale or take any body measurements for 30 days.
